PDF Reader Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how PDF Reader handles information when you use the Android app for reading PDFs, scanning pages, importing files, converting documents, annotating, signing, organizing, and exporting local documents.

1. Developer and Contact Information

This policy applies to PDF Reader. The app is provided by the PDF Reader team. For privacy questions, requests, or concerns, contact us at rjay34330@gmail.com.

2. Summary of Our Data Practices

PDF Reader is designed as a local document utility. The app does not require an account, does not sell personal or sensitive user data, and does not currently include advertising, analytics, or social sign-in SDKs.

3. Information the App Accesses or Stores

PDF Reader may access or store the following information only as needed for app functionality and user-requested document actions:

Data or Permission Purpose Storage or Sharing
Documents and file metadata To find, display, open, sort, bookmark, import, convert, move, recycle, share, and export PDFs and supported office files. Stored on your device. File names, paths, sizes, modified dates, recent-file records, bookmarks, and recycle-bin markers may be saved locally in app storage.
Photos and scanned images To create PDFs from images, scan documents, or make ID-card PDF files when you choose those features. Processed for the selected feature. Resulting PDFs or exported images are saved on your device.
Camera or scanner access To scan pages into PDF or image output when you start a scan flow. Used for the scan action you initiate. The app does not operate a user account server for scanned content.
Notifications To notify you about long-running conversions, scans, or export results when notification permission is granted. Notification settings are handled by Android. The app does not sell notification data.
Network state and internet access To support platform services, network availability checks, and future online components if introduced. Core document reading and editing features are designed to work locally. We do not currently operate our own cloud document processing service.

4. How We Use Information

  • To provide document reading, file browsing, search, sorting, recent files, bookmarks, and recycle-bin features.
  • To import files selected through Android file picker flows.
  • To create, convert, merge, split, compress, annotate, sign, protect, and export PDFs at your request.
  • To scan pages or use selected images to create PDF files.
  • To show permission prompts and basic operational messages needed for app functionality.
  • To maintain security, prevent misuse, comply with law, and respond to user support requests.

5. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal or sensitive user data. We do not share your documents with our own cloud service. Data may be shared only in the following situations:

  • When you intentionally use Android sharing, open-with, export, or file picker features to send a file to another app or service.
  • When Android, Google Play services, or device platform providers process information required to provide operating system, scanner, security, or app distribution services.
  • When disclosure is required to comply with applicable law, enforce our rights, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect users and the public.

6. Third-Party Services

PDF Reader may rely on Android system services and Google Play services for file access, document scanning, app distribution, and security features. These services may process data according to their own privacy terms.

The current version of PDF Reader does not include Google AdMob advertising. In a future version, we plan to add Google AdMob ads. If AdMob is added, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share information such as IP address, device or advertising identifiers, app interactions, diagnostic information, and ad performance data for advertising, analytics, fraud prevention, security, and compliance. Ads may be personalized where permitted by law and user settings. We will update this Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data safety disclosures when advertising is introduced.

7. Permissions

PDF Reader requests permissions only to support expected document features:

  • Storage or all-files access may be requested to discover, open, import, convert, move, and manage documents on your device.
  • Media access may be requested to use selected images for image-to-PDF or scan-related workflows.
  • Notifications may be requested for progress and result updates.
  • Internet and network-state permissions may be used for platform services, connectivity checks, and future features.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Documents, imported files, scans, exports, and converted files remain on your device until you delete them. Recent-file records, bookmarks, and recycle-bin markers are stored locally and may remain until you clear app data, uninstall the app, or remove the related records through app features where available.

PDF Reader does not currently provide account creation. Because there is no account system, account deletion is not applicable. To remove local app data, you may delete exported files, clear app storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data handled by the app. Local files are protected by your device security settings and Android's app storage model. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

PDF Reader is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us so we can review and respond appropriately.

11. International Users

Your information may be processed in the country where you use the app and in locations where platform providers or service providers operate. We aim to handle information consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes, when we add features such as AdMob advertising, or when legal or policy requirements change. The updated version will show a new effective date. Continued use of PDF Reader after an update means you acknowledge the updated policy.
